Robert Dickson The lyrics are so direct and clever, beautiful singing and guitar playing with tasty rhythms and decorations on top. So much heart, while being executed really well. Favourite song is Hours.
Laura B.
Laura B. thumbnail
Laura B. like cupping your hands to keep time from seeping through the space between your fingers. protecting moments by staying awake, learning what everything looks and feels like in that room within the silence, and then projecting it back on the wall. Favorite track: Floor.

Hours 04:07
Did I run into your arms A flower or fire? Was it crushing your heart too Or just desire Well I’ll never make you stay If you can’t It’s only been a little while But I’m doing it again Holding onto hours You wander and I wonder What you’d say If the flower cries or fire dies Would you stay? For an hour It’s all sacrifice and violence The history of love But remember when we stayed up? And took turns playing songs My favorite game And I never felt ashamed in your embrace Holding on for hours You’re always talking shit and I’m always giving it Did you wonder when we’d kiss? I think you did Held me for hours

Wasted 02:29
I tried to keep it close Keep it in a locket Ain’t no one can stop it Can you tell the difference? I can tell the difference Maybe you’re the difference Please don’t be indifferent I could make it different How come you only say I’m cute when you’re wasted Baby don’t waste it Well maybe you could waste it I run my mouth and it runs me over Don’t come closer don’t come closer I’m super glue it’s nothing new You try to break it Hoping nothings coming Can’t you see I’m running? I try to write it out Make sure nothing sounds weird Make sure it’s not half bad Do you think this songs sad? You made me smile But could you spell it out for me? You say you shouldn’t have to I know you shouldn’t have to

Floor 04:33
The night you asked me to hold your keys I felt like you wanted me to leave I looked up the sky was more than a dream I tried so hard to soak it in Take every breath with a clear head So much that I couldn’t let myself forget You put on a movie and we watched Both mostly silent We barely talked We filled the space with quiet breath You fell asleep in innocence I felt all your loneliness I watched you sleep and felt comforted and I tried to sleep too I tried to sleep too But you made it look so easy Behind the house where I grew up Old cemetery bodies broken up I touched their names in the cold cement I made up lives they could’ve lived Recalled each tale with holiness Though they were made up on whim and I felt the quiet I tried to try it But my mind was always running crazy loud Could I sit on your floor again? I’ll do much better if I can I was too small then to take up any space but I tried to show you I tried to show you That I was stronger

Sin 04:31
Boyfriends what are boyfriends what are boyfriends when I have you? Time rolls by so quickly When i’m standing next to you And everyday is pretty when I wake up turned towards you But when you go you take the sun and all my flowers die So I wait by the window and write some shit and hope that you reply I watch myself undress and I pretend that it’s for you Talking to myself and hoping that I’ll turn around and see you And if I take a pill tonight I’ll sleep just fine but that’s not what I want to do And my eyes never cry but they run dry when I think of you Remember when I kept so still When you came in for the kill The very first time I was looking in your eyes And we never shoulda left that room And we never should’ve said hello Cause I miss you when you go I mean I don’t mind sinning if it’s with you I don’t mind sinning if it’s with you Say a prayer Lay your hands on me I just wanna be clean I just wanna be clean (x5)

about

Tomberlin's new Projections EP (co-produced by Alex G and his bandmate Sam Acchione) continues the arc of her critically acclaimed 2018 debut At Weddings, weaving new collaborators and new techniques into her signature dusky milieu.

Since the LP's release, Tomberlin has toured with Pedro the Lion, Andy Shauf, American Football, and Alex G, played a Tiny Desk concert for NPR, and given a riveting performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The five-song EP, capped with a cover of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone's stunning "Natural Light," reflects this period of intensive growth and self-discovery. The rich vocal harmonies and guitar lines that made At Weddings so riveting still provide the EP's foundation, but new percussive backing and instrumental flourishes open the path forward for Tomberlin.
